Interpretive Centre Opens at site of First Parliament

Ontario Heritage Trust has opened this interpretive centre to enable people to discover Ontario's early history, understand the roots of democracy in this province and commemorate the War of 1812.

The War of 1812 was a defining moment in our history. In June 1812, the United States declared war on Great Britain. A month later American troops invaded Upper Canada.

Book of Remembrance

A War of 1812 Book of Remembrance

An investigative quest identified 181 fallen combatants at the Battle of York. Their names are inscribed in this specially commissioned Book of Remembrance.
