Residential - garbage or recycling bins - new residents - moving to a new residence

If you are a new occupant of a re-sale home; a new tenant; a resident in a new development receiving curbside pick-up or new tenant in a residential unit above commercial, without a garbage and recycling bin, you can submit a service request on-line at http://www.toronto.ca/311/ ,or you can call 311 to request new bins.

No fee will be charged for a replacement bin, however your annual garbage fee per bin will be applicable:

Bin exchange fees:

  • there is no exchange fee to downsizing your garbage or recycling bin
  • there is no exchange fee to upsize your recycling bin
  • There is a $20.00 fee to up size your garbage bin.

    • If you are moving to a new home, garbage and recycling bins must stay at that address, as all the bins are scanned to the specific address they were issued to.
