St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts Board of Management
The Centre is a City board established to provide state of the art performance facilities and services for Toronto's "not-for-profit" performing arts organizations at an affordable cost. The Centre contains two performance spaces - the Jane Mallet theatre (497 seats) and the Bluma Appel theatre (896 seats). The Centre's six resident companies are the Canadian Stage Company, the Esprit Orchestra, the Hannaford Street Silver Band, Music Toronto, Opera in Concert and the Toronto Operetta Theatre.
Board responsibilities
The board of management is responsible for supervising the business and affairs of the Centre, ensuring that the Centre is operated in a fiscally responsible manner and meets its service obligations to the performing arts community which uses the facility.
Term of office
Four years.
Composition
The board consists of 12 members:
- the Mayor or a designate appointed by the Mayor
- 3 members of Council appointed by City Council
- 2 tenant members (nominated by the Tenant Advisory Committee)
- 6 citizen members
Meetings
The board meets monthly or at the call of the Chair.
