  Emile Wenger fonds, Fonds 103

Mr. Wenger

These records illustrates the work, design inspiration, and financial dealings of metalworker Emile Wenger, from the 1920s until his death in the 1970s.

Wenger was associated with a number of prominent Toronto architectural firms, providing work for the Concourse Building and the Claridge Apartments, as well as a number of local churches, and residences in Forest Hill and Rosedale.

The records include photographs Wenger took of each piece he created; photographs of others’ work, used as a design resource; a scrapbook containing clippings of trees, flowers, and other natural forms Wenger used as inspiration; a small library of product catalogues, trade publications, and catalogues from other metal fabrication companies; templates and other drawings used by Wenger in his work; and financial records. These records were discovered during renovations of Wenger’s workshop building. Fonds 103.
