File Names for Electronic Documents - Examples

The file names of the Electronic Documents are to include the name of the form or contents of the Electronic Document.

When one DVD includes all the Electronic Documents for multiple permit applications for the same address the Electronic Documents must be grouped by permit type. Each permit type to be applied for must have a folder with the Electronic Documents needed for that particular application.

Examples of a DVD containing Electronic Documents:

  1. To apply for a Building, HVAC, and Plumbing Permit.
    Example 1
The Electronic Documents are grouped by permit type and each permit (type) folder contains the documents or plans / drawings needed for that particular permit application. For example, architectural, structural, shoring, mechanical and electrical drawings should be included in the "BLD Drwgs.pdf"

HVAC, plumbing and site services plans / drawings must be submitted as separate electronic documents (PDFs) for each mechanical permit application, plumbing permit application and site service permit.

  2. To apply for a Building, HVAC, and Plumbing Permit for a subdivision or townhouse development. For applications which include the use of a Certified Plan see notes below.
    Example 2
The Electronic Documents are grouped by permit type and each permit (type) folder contains the documents or plans / drawings needed for that particular permit application.

When a Certified Plan is used:

    • Arch Drawings would contain a Survey (Lot Plan) and a Site Plan of all the lots, and
    • information relating to the Arch. Drawings, HVAC Drawings, HVAC Calculations and Plumbing Data Sheet that are part of the Certified Plan should not be included on the DVD.
  3. To apply for a HVAC Permit when a Building Permit Application for the same project already exist.
    Example 3
The folder name shows the building address that the HVAC Permit Application is related to.

  4. To apply for only a Plumbing Permit:
    Example 4
The folder name shows the building address that the Plumbing Permit Application is related to.
