Business Opportunities Bulletin Board

1. General

By using the on-line Business Opportunities Bulletin Board (the “Database”) you agree to the current version of these Terms of Use (the “Terms”). The City of Toronto (the “City”) may change the Terms at any time without notice. The changed Terms will be posted and you should read them before using the Database. The City may immediately terminate your use of the Database, if you use it in any way contrary to these Terms or the law or in any way that disrupts the Database.

2. Editing, Deleting and Modification

The City reserves the right in its sole discretion to edit or delete any documents, information, forms or other content on the web pages that house the Database.

3. No Liability

The City is not responsible for and will not be liable to you or anyone else for any damages whatsoever, including any indirect, special, incidental or consequential damages, arising out of or in connection with your use, or inability to use, the Database, even if it has been advised of the possibility of such damages. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the City assumes no liability or responsibility for any damages or claims of any nature whatsoever arising as a result of or in connection with any transactions which ensue from the publication of any item on this database.

4. Disclaimer

The Database is provided on an "as is", "as available" basis. The City does not represent or warrant that access to the Database will be available or will meet your requirements, that access will be uninterrupted, that there will be no delays, failures, or errors or omissions or loss of transmitted information, that no viruses or other contaminating or destructive properties will be transmitted or that no damage will occur to your computer system. As a user of the Database you accept sole responsibility for adequate protection and backup of your data, hardware and software and for taking reasonable and appropriate precautions against viruses and other contaminating or destructive properties.

The City does not make any express or implied warranties, representations or endorsements whatsoever with respect to the Database and its content including but not limited to, warranties as to usefulness, completeness, accuracy, viability or reliability of the data. The information provided on this site is provided for information purposes only. The City is not associated with and does not endorse any of the businesses or opportunities presented. Users are advised to seek legal and investment counsel before proceeding with any transactions arising as a result of or in connection with any information presented on this Database.

5. Collection, Use and Disclosure of Personal Information

Personal information collected for Database administration purposes will be subject to the privacy provisions of the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act MFIPPA. Please refer to the City’s Privacy and Security Statement for more information. Due to the fact that many of the opportunities on the Database are listed on a confidential basis, the actual names of these businesses cannot be publicly disclosed. All requests for information must be made in writing through the City's Economic Development Department or by e-mail to Ronald Wandel, Manager, Strategic Alliances RWandel@toronto.ca.

6. Links to Other Sites

Clicking on links to any other sites will let you leave the City of Toronto's Website and go to other websites. The City does not operate or control these other websites or the products or services offered on such other websites or by persons listed on those sites. The City provides these links strictly as a convenience and for information and does not review, approve or endorse the content of any other Websites, or any of the products or services offered by persons listed on those sites. Linking to or using any other websites is at your sole risk and subject to the terms and conditions of use for those sites. The City will not be responsible or liable for any direct, indirect, special, incidental or consequential damages arising from linking to or use of the other websites or any of the products or services offered by persons listed on the websites.

7. Other terms

To use the Site, you also agree to the following terms:

• You will not change or attempt to change any information or material found on the Site including any information posted by other users;
• You will not violate (or try to violate) the security of the Site by hacking, cracking, mail bombing, mounting a denial of service attack or any other similar malicious, careless or negligent acts and you will not upload, post, transmit, publish or distribute any material or information to the Site which contains a computer virus or other code, files or programs intended in any manner to disrupt or interfere with the functioning of the Site;
• You will not impersonate any other person or entity or make any misrepresentations;
• You will not upload any content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, vulgar, obscene, libellous or otherwise objectionable and that may invade another's right of privacy; and
• You agree to be bound by Ontario laws in your use of the Site and you agree that any court proceedings relating to your use of the Site will take place in Ontario.
