In December 2012, the Provincial government presented its new child care funding framework and formula that will allow municipalities to allocate funding based on local needs. The City will consult with its partners and stakeholders to develop a local funding model that will continue to meet Toronto's Child Care Service Plan Principles. The City is proposing three phases of consultation over a two-year period. At the District Child Care Advisory meetings in May, participants will provide feedback re: draft funding principles and evaluation criteria, which will guide the development of funding model options.

Important change: Meetings in the West and East Districts have been cancelled to accommodate the focused consultations. Please attend one of the two meetings outlined above.

Four District Child Care Advisory groups represent Toronto's licensed child care centres, home child care agencies and special needs resourcing agencies. Their mandate is to provide advice and support to Toronto Children's Services on child care issues and to serve as a link between child care and the broader community.
