2 Update 1999
The
Children and Youth Action Committee (CYAC) released the 1999
Toronto Report Card on Children on October 14, 1999. The report
is part of the CYAC's ongoing commitment to improving the
health and well-being of Toronto children.
"The Report Card is
a rich source of information which shows us the areas of the
city in which children and their families are having problems.
It will help Council and the community decide where and how
we should be investing our resources."
(Councillor Olivia Chow, Children and Youth Advocate)

The Report Card measures
the health and well-being of children in Toronto, using a variety
of "indicators" to evaluate the situation of the city's
children. Wherever possible, these indicators are mapped to provide
specific information about the welfare of children in individual
neighbourhoods. The distribution of programs and facilities serving
children is also mapped. In some cases, targets for improvement
or "benchmarks" have been linked to the indicators.
