Non-profit and charitable community groups in the City of Toronto are eligible to use designated space in City Hall, Metro Hall and the civic centres, with sponsorship of a member of City Council.

The Toronto Public Library guarantees the right of free expression by making available its auditoriums, meeting rooms and theatres to all individuals, groups and organizations whose programs are consistent with the intent of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the Ontario Human Rights Code and the Ontario Anti-Racism Policy.

The Culture Division owns and operates museums and historic sites that can be rented for special occasions, including banquets, weddings, receptions, product launches, awards ceremonies, photography sessions, film shoots and other special events.

Birthday parties can be booked at City of Toronto Historic Museums.

blue bullet Parks & Recreation facilities
To book facilities such as indoor pools, indoor arenas, outdoor ice rinks, go to the Toronto Fun Guide, pick the area you're interested in from the map, and click on the link for Facilities & Permits.

You'll need a permit to book parks and recreation facilities for special events, tournaments etc. Contact 416-392-8188 for more information.
  • Picnic permits
    A permit is required for groups of 25 or more. More information is available at Picnics in Toronto Parks.


  • Outdoor sports fields permits
    Permits for outdoor sports fields must be obtained from Toronto Parks & Recreation, through the Customer Service Section, Toronto City Hall, 100 Queen Street West, Toronto, ON M5N 2N2, Telephone: 416-392-0361


  • Permits for wedding photography in City Parks
    Permits are required for wedding photography and costs vary depending on the park and length of time requested. Marriage ceremonies are only permitted in the following parks: Edwards Gardens, Rosetta McClain Gardens, Guildwood Park (at Guild Inn), St. James Gardens, Sunnyside Pavilion, Allen Gardens Conservatory, and Centennial Gardens Conservatory. Very small ceremonies (40 maximum) are permitted at the Music Garden but there is no parking at this location. For wedding photography information and City of Toronto locations, please call the Parks Permit office at 416-392-8188.
