Making Space for Culture: Public Consultations
The City of Toronto has identified its role in supplying "affordable, sustainable cultural space" for use by cultural industries, not-for-profit organizations and community groups, and a need to develop and enhance cultural spaces to ensure that Torontonians can engage with arts and culture of all forms. A ward-by-ward consultation and planning process will determine local priorities that will help guide future potential investments. Learn more about this project.
Holiday shopping
The City of Toronto is reviewing its Holiday Shopping By-law. Currently, some stores and retail areas are permitted to be open on retail business holidays and others are not. As part of this review, the City of Toronto is conducting public consultations to gather views on this subject from residents, retail business employees, retail business owners, as well as existing community, labour and business groups. Learn more and participate in the discussion.
Service Review Program
In 2011, the City of Toronto launched a Service Review Program to address a budget gap of $774 million. The program is reviewing all of the City's services, looking at what it takes to run the country's largest, most diverse city and hearing what's important to you. Read the City Manager's report, background information, and results of the public consultation on the Toronto Service Review website.
2010 - 2014 Council Briefing book
The City Council briefing binders contain information on the wide range of programs, policies, and issues Councillors need to know about. All of this material is available online and is an excellent resource for anyone interested in learning about many of the things Council will discuss this term.
