Community Hub Design:
The City of Toronto and the Toronto District School Board have jointly selected CS&P Architects Inc. to design the new Regent Park community hub. The hub includes the new Regent Park Community Centre (Parks Forestry & Recreation community recreation centre and Employment Services employment centre) connected to the fully renovated Nelson Mandela Park Public School and Blevins Child Care. This is an exciting and uniquely collaborative design and development process and all the partners are enthusiastically working together.

How to participate
Consultation process: The consultation plan for the new Regent Park Community Centre is still being fine-tuned and is subject to revision, but there will likely be four opportunities for the community to provide input for the design of the new Regent Park Community Centre:
- Focus Group Meetings: The consultation plan will include Focus Group meetings with existing community centre users and other stakeholders. The Focus Groups will allow a wide range of stakeholders to identify key community needs and aspirations that must be considered in the design of the facility. These meetings will be scheduled for January/February 2010.
- Design Brainstorming/Exploration Workshop: A Design Brainstorming/Exploration Workshop will follow the Focus Group meetings where community members may participate in developing design concepts and testing design strategies for the combined community hub. The Brainstorming/Exploration Workshop will be scheduled for February 2010.
- Design Options Presentation Workshop: At a Design Options Presentation Workshop to be scheduled in March 2010, the 2 or 3 design options based on the previous workshops will be presented to the community for their input.
- Design Presentation Open House: After further development by the architects, the design will then be showcased at a Community Open House in the spring of 2010.
