The Intergovernmental Affairs Committee was responsible to:

  • guide and coordinate activities of an intergovernmental nature with other governments and with the various municipal associations in which the City of Toronto is represented;
  • formulate strategies to maximize the impact of representations to the various levels of government
  • establish a process and direct the format and content of representations or submissions to be made to other governments to ensure that a high standard is consistently maintained by the corporation
  • establish priorities for intergovernmental issues which require representation or discussion at the federal, provincial, municipal or regional levels of government or at the various associations in which the City of Toronto is represented
  • guide and coordinate the City of Toronto's corporate international activities
  • review the impact of intergovernmental initiatives and international activities at regular intervals.
