Purpose
To advise the Mayor and City Council and to engage the community on policies, programs and activities that will allow Toronto to realize its potential as a creative city and that will result in the implementation of the City's Culture Plan.

Composition and Membership
The roundtable will be composed of up to 15 members including the Mayor and up to two members of Council. The remaining members will be community members representative of arts, culture, heritage, diverse communities, creative enterprises and cultural industries. The membership should reflect the diversity of Toronto's population.

Term
The roundtable will be established for the 2003-2006 Council term and will conclude at the end of that term.

Role and Procedures
Without limiting the range of arts and cultural issues on which to advise the Mayor and Council, the issues to be considered include:

  • the implementation of the Culture Plan;
  • Federal, Provincial and Municipal legislative tools and resources for the arts, culture and heritage sectors;
  • support for creative enterprise and cultural industries; and
  • Toronto's presence as an international cultural city.
