  1. ONTARIANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT.

    Expressing thanks for participating in the consultation on "Preventing and Removing Barriers for Ontarians with Disabilities, in response to the Task Force's submission of September 3, 1998; advising that a comprehensive review of the comments and suggestions expressed is now being undertaken, the highlights of which will soon be shared.

  2. TORONTO POLICE SERVICES BOARD - ACCESS AND EQUITY INITIATIVES.

    Forwarding an extract from the Minutes of the meeting of the Toronto Police Services Board held on June 18, 1998 and background information on the Toronto Police Services Board's Sub-Committee on Race Relations; advising that the initiatives undertaken by the Toronto Police in the area of community access and equity include the establishment of:

    1. a sub-committee on race relations and a Youth Advisory Committee;
    2. a "Chief's Advisory Council", which meets four times a year;
    3. community specific consultative committees which include Aboriginal, Black, Chinese, French, Hispanic and South Asian;
    4. Community Police Liaison Committees, comprised of citizens operating on a divisional basis, to identify local problems and solutions; and
    5. a Policing and Diversity course.
  3. TORONTO DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD - ACCESS AND EQUITY POLICY.

    Encouraging the Toronto District School Board to adopt an access and equity policy and program framework; and forwarding a copy of the Task Force's interim report for reference.

  4. EQUITY IN COMMUNITY-BASED HUMAN SERVICES.

    Bulletin promoting a Workshop sponsored by the Access and Equity Centre and the Social Development and Administration Division, Community and Neighbourhood Services of the City of Toronto, to be held on Tuesday, November 17, 199 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the City Room, Main Floor, Metro Hall, 55 John Street; with panelists Michael Ornstein, Professor, Institute for Social Research, York University; Arnold Minors, Organisational Effectiveness Consultant and Mediator; Avvy Go, Executive Director, Chinese and Southeast Asian Legal Clinic; and Carol Tator, Anti-Racist Advocate, Author and Lecturer, York University.

  5. UPDATE ON THE SECOND ROUND OF CONSULTATIONS.
