Councillor David Shiner is the proud representative of Ward 24 - Willowdale. From 1991-1997 David served on the North York City Council and since 1998 on the new Toronto City Council.
Councillor Shiner has served on numerous committees and Boards. For the last three-year term of City Council 2000 - 2003, Councillor Shiner served as Chair of the City of Toronto's Budget Advisory Committee. David was instrumental in implementing changes to the budget process, making it much more open and accountable.
Councillor Shiner continues to represent the constituents of Ward 24 - Willowdale, on Toronto City Council and on the North York Community Council. David is an advocate for better transit funding and expansion of Toronto's transit system.
David is concerned with the growing number of homeless youth in Toronto. He is a long-time board member of Eva's Initiatives which operates two youth shelters in North York (Eva's Place and Eva's Satellite) and one in Toronto (Eva's Phoenix).
David is a member of the Licensing & Standards Committee and also sits on the Board of Directors of the Greater Toronto Airport Authority. |
