The Culture
Division through the Arts Services section supports community
arts development. Staff in regional offices often are a first
point of contact on community arts issues. They work collaboratively
with local arts councils and community arts organizations, other
levels of government, artists and volunteers, educational agencies,
libraries, the media, funding bodies, businesses and corporate
sponsors to support the growth of and participation in the arts.
Outreach
to under-serviced and diverse communities is a priority. Examples
of other services include distribution of promotional materials,
brokering partnerships and in-kind services, cultural facility
development, encouraging networking and information exchanges,
accessing exhibition and studio space for artists and artisans,
organizational and board development assistance, and volunteer
recognition programs. These services are delivered on a formal
basis through workshops or application processes, or informally
through meetings, consultations or tailored handouts. Community
groups are provided with assistance in volunteer training and
leadership development initiatives. Promotional and marketing
opportunities are also made available to communities along with
planning and other support for special events and festivals
