  New Initiatives: Reconnecting Toronto's Waterfront

For the first time in more than a century, we have a chance to reconnect Toronto to its Waterfront. Spurred on by Toronto's bid for the 2008 Olympic Games, and supported with an investment of $1.5 billion from three levels of government, the redevelopment of Toronto's waterfront will be one of the most ambitious and exciting undertakings in this city's history.

In early December 2000, Toronto's Toronto Culture and David Crombie, Founding Chair of the Waterfront Regeneration Trust, invited some of Toronto's brightest minds from the realms of arts, culture, heritage, business, government and academia to join in a day-long journey into the future of culture on the waterfront. The results of that journey have been recorded in On the waterfront, where the possibilities for a vibrant cultural corridor along the huge expanse of Toronto's waterfront are endless.
