The Tourism Division strives to position Toronto as a dynamic and culturally vibrant year-round international destination and fosters the development and rejuvenation of innovative attractions, facilities and globally significant events and festivals that enhance the quality of life for citizens and visitors.

The Tourism Division's mission is to accelerate opportunity, promote excellence and liberate the potential that exists in this key economic sector.

This Division will become the focal point for developing the tourism sector in Toronto by:
  • building relationships with tourism industry stakeholders, City departments and all levels of government
  • taking an entrepreneurial approach to creating and implementing strategic initiatives and leading-edge integrated relationships
Comprised of three business sections, the Tourism Division includes:
Toronto Special Events
This section of the Tourism Division provides support and consultation to Toronto's festival and event industry in all areas of event production including programming, event logistics, marketing and sponsorship.

Toronto Special Events annually consults with hundreds of festival producers, plus develops and promotes more than 30 innovative special events and festivals celebrating the energy and diversity of this great city, enriching the quality of life for residents and attracting world-wide tourist audiences.

Past Major Events (formerly Major International Events) Liaising with host organizations and federations, the Toronto International section identifies opportunities and creates alliances with bid proponents to host international and national sports, cultural, social and other events of significance to enhance Toronto's profile, stimulate the tourism sector and generate legacies for the community.

Tourism Development and Research
With a goal to support a strong tourism sector and help business succeed in Toronto, this section provides one-on-one assistance and consulting to individual businesses and investors.

In addition, the Tourism Development and Research section develops policies and programs to strengthen the tourism sector, advocates on this sector's behalf, and undertakes a variety of projects and programs to enhance the visitor experience and increase the range of things to see and do within Toronto.
