The Energy Efficiency Office (EEO) is responsible for developing and co-ordinating the implementation of an energy efficiency and conservation strategy for Toronto. This is in response to the City's commitment to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 20 percent, relative to 1988 levels.
Some of the initiatives the EEO has undertaken to reach this goal are the Better Buildings Partnership, the Solar Neighbourhoods Project and creating the City's Energy Plan.

Energy Conservation Week: Count Me In!
Be part of an Ontario-wide effort bringing together the power of collective action to help create a culture of energy conservation in our lives - at home, at work and at play.
By signing up for the Count Me In! Pledge you will start to receive information on tools and practices that conserve energy in ways that save money, benefit our environment, and secure the future of Ontario's energy supply.
In addition to helping you conserve energy every day, this information will prepare you for the big challenge day (Blackout Day) on August 14. This is the day when everyone will put their new knowledge and tools to work and make a statement on what people can collectively achieve in energy conservation. Energy Savings Incenives
The EEO's Better Building Partnership provides assistance and financial incentives to support energy projects and new construction in multifamily, institutional and commercial buildings.
Solar Neighbourhoods
The City of Toronto and Toronto Hydro has launched a pilot program called Solar Neighbourhoods. This program is designed to help home owners in Ward 30 conserve water and energy and to purchase a solar water heater.

Sustainable Energy Funds (SEFs)
The Toronto Energy Conservation Fund (TECF) and the Toronto Green Energy Fund (TGEF)are designed to provide low-interest financing to projects which improve energy efficiency in existing or planned buildings, or generate renewable energy, thus reducing emissions of greenhouse gases.
