Survey of Education for Sustainable Development Activities in Toronto
Why is this survey being undertaken?
The ten-year period of 2005 to 2014 has been designated the International Decade for Education for Sustainable Development by the United Nations General Assembly. The overall goal of the Decade is to integrate the principles, values, and practices of sustainable development into all aspects of education and learning.
To determine the state of education for sustainable development (ESD) in Canada, several organizations are working together to obtain an overview of ESD activities in both the formal education sector (i.e., schools, universities, and colleges) and by non-formal and informal educators (i.e., non-governmental organizations, interpretive centres and museums, governments, etc.).
The following organizations are participating in this initiative:
- Education Alliance for a Sustainable Toronto, including the City of Toronto and the University of Toronto's Centre for Environment
- Learning for a Sustainable Future
- Various Provincial and Territorial ESD Working Groups
- National ESD Experts Council
Who should complete the survey?
This survey is relevant to all organizations that provide learning opportunities, formally or informally, that foster understanding and action towards environmental issues and sustainable development.
How will the survey results be used?
The information collected through this survey will be used for program planning purposes by the National ESD Expert Council, the Provincial and Territorial ESD Working Groups and the Regional Centres of Expertise on ESD. At the end of the survey you will have the opportunity to indicate if you'd like your personal information kept confidential.
How long will this take?
It will take approximately thirty minutes to complete the survey. You can exit and return to the survey at any time; your responses will be saved, but you must press next to save any work on your current page.
