A new report, Diverting News, discusses the six years of successful separation carried out by the City's Agencies, Boards, Commissions and Divisions through their Waste Diversion Team. The Team was set up by Council directive to help its organizations meet a waste diversion target of 70% by 2010. The Team's waste diversion rate went from 39% in 2004 to 67% in 2010. The Team continues to network to aim for 70% and to ensure all its good work does not go to waste in the future.
City Hall Window Replacement Project
City Hall East Tower Window Replacement The Toronto City Hall East Tower’s windows will be replaced with energy efficient windows. The tower windows are the original ones installed when the building was constructed in the early 1960s, and they are not energy efficient. Replacing the windows will help the City reduce energy costs and better manage temperatures inside the building. Details about the replacement are available on the City Hall Windows Replacement Project page.

City Office Buildings Waste Diversion
In order to quantify recycling and garbage being generated in major City buildings IN 2010, Facilities Management had solid waste audits carried out on seven Civic Centres, which showed some buildings (City Hall and Scarborough Civic Centre) were diverting 87% of their waste from landfill to recycling.

View the Audit Results table to see the total breakdown of results.
