Whether you need child care because you are working or attending school or simply because you would like an early learning opportunity for your child, licensed child care offers children opportunities for play, socialization, exploration and age-appropriate learning in a nurturing and safe environment.

There are over 900 licensed child care programs to choose from in Toronto. These child care centres and home child care agencies are licensed by The Ministry of Education under the Day Nurseries Act.

They are required to meet standards related to health and safety, children's activities, child to staff ratios, group sizes, caregiver training and the physical environment.

Do you need help locating licensed child care in your neighbourhood?
- Children's Services offers a child care registry that includes over 900 child care centres and 21 home child care agencies.
- Children's Services directly operates over 52 child care programs throughout the city.
Do you need help with the cost of child care?
- Children's Services provides financial assistance (subsidy) with the cost of child care to eligible families.
Does your child have special needs that need to be considered when choosing a child care program?
- Children's Services provides assistance in the placement and care of children with special needs.
Would you like to know about other parenting supports in your neighbourhood?
- Our Ward Reports on Children provide a registry of family support programs that enhance child development and provide parent support. The reports also provide a listing of public libraries, community centres, public health programs and schools in each city ward.
