Annual Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Awards
Every year, Ontario fire departments nominate children, organizations, partners, individuals and the media whose actions merit a Fire Safety Award. The Ontario Fire Marshal selects and presents the Fire Marshal's Award for Excellence in Fire Safety to the group or individual who makes an exceptional contribution in promoting fire safety and public education in Ontario.
CANADA COMMAND presentation
Brigadier-General Lewis presented the CANADA COMMAND presentation to Captain Anthony Comella for his effort in advancing the Canadian Forces Heavy Urban Search and Rescue capabilities. CANADA COMMAND is responsible for all domestic operations within Canada and is a joint, Army, Navy and Air Force Organization commanded by Lieutenant-General Semianiw. The CANADA COMMAND Commendation is presented to personnel who go above and beyond their normal duties. View photos.
2011 Operations Firefighter Campaign
As the City of Toronto continues to review and address its 2012 budget, Toronto Fire Services will not initiate a 2011 recruitment campaign for the position of Operations Firefighter.
2010 Operations Firefighter Campaign
Toronto Fire Services extends the eligibility of the 2010 Operations Firefighter candidate pools  to June 30, 2012. Visit the recruitment page for more information about the Operations Firefighter recruitment and selection process.
Sunnybrook Centre for Pre-hospital Medicine: Statement on Tiered Response
Medical tiered response refers to the dispatch of both paramedics and emergency first responders (generally firefighters) to 9-1-1 calls for medical emergencies. The Sunnybrook Centre for Pre-hospital Medicine, which provides medical direction, leadership and advice in the provision of pre-hospital emergency health care, recently stated that the tiered response system used in the City of Toronto has "some of the best performance in areas such as clinical care, survival from cardiac arrest, reduction in morbidity, and adherence to medical protocols."
