Fallen Fire Fighters Memorial
The City of Toronto Fire Service and the Toronto Professional Fire Fighters Association will honour the addition of 6 fallen firefighters to the Memorial Honour Roll, located at the Harbour Front Fire Station # 334, 339 Queens Quay West, on Sunday June 9th at 11 a.m. All Torontonians are welcome to attend.
Communicator of the Year
Every year during the second week in April, telecommunications personnel in the public safety community are honoured. On April 18, the awards were presented to District Chief Ray Pade and Firefighter CAD/RMS Technician Kathy Cuthbert for their dedication and commitment in support of the Toronto Fire Services Communications Centre. The ceremony was held in the atrium of Fire/EMS Headquarters in which Toronto Emergency Medical Services (TEMS) and Toronto Police Service (TPS) staff were also recognized.
Recruit Graduation Ceremony
A ceremony for the latest class of Firefighter Recruits was held at the Toronto Fire/EMS Training Academy on February 1st. After weeks of training, they were placed in fire stations across the City to help serve the citizens of Toronto.
2013 Anchors Aweigh
A competition between Toronto Fire, Toronto EMS, Toronto Police and the RCMP was held last month at the boat show. It involved carrying an anchor in a pool of water.

Take Our Kids to Work Day 2012
On November 7th, 2012, the kids of Firefighters came together to see what goes on in our workplace. They visited fire stations, the special operations centre, and headquarters where they were able to see the fire boat, memorial monument, auto extrication, hazmat teams and communications and more. On September 11th, 2012 throughout Major League Baseball, tribute was paid to those who lost their lives in the attacks of September 11th, 2001 particularly to emergency services workers who responded to help those in need. View video.
City Of Toronto appoints new Fire Chief
We are pleased to announce that James William (Jim) Sales, a 27-year fire services veteran, was appointed July 12, 2012 by Toronto City Council to the position of Fire Chief and General Manager, Toronto Fire Services, effective the earliest date possible.
In Jim's current role, as General Manager of Community Operations for the City of Barrie (2008 – present) and in his previous position as Markham's Commissioner of Community and Fire Services (2001 – 2008), Fire Services has reported directly to Jim. Earlier in his career, he served as Fire Chief in Markham (2000 – 2001) and as the City of Edmonton, Alberta's Fire Chief from 1998 – 2000. Jim, who began his career as a Fire/EMS responder, has experience working in a variety of work environments including rural, suburban, urban and industrial areas.

2010 Operations Firefighter Campaign
Toronto Fire Services extends the eligibility of its hiring pool to December 31, 2012 and invites candidates in the general stream of the hiring pool to qualify for placement into the enhanced stream.
Annual Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Awards
Every year, Ontario fire departments nominate children, organizations, partners, individuals and the media whose actions merit a Fire Safety Award. The Ontario Fire Marshal selects and presents the Fire Marshal's Award for Excellence in Fire Safety to the group or individual who makes an exceptional contribution in promoting fire safety and public education in Ontario.
CANADA COMMAND presentation
Brigadier-General Lewis presented the CANADA COMMAND presentation to Captain Anthony Comella for his effort in advancing the Canadian Forces Heavy Urban Search and Rescue capabilities. CANADA COMMAND is responsible for all domestic operations within Canada and is a joint, Army, Navy and Air Force Organization commanded by Lieutenant-General Semianiw. Sunnybrook Centre for Pre-hospital Medicine: Statement on Tiered Response
Medical tiered response refers to the dispatch of both paramedics and emergency first responders (generally firefighters) to 9-1-1 calls for medical emergencies. The Sunnybrook Centre for Pre-hospital Medicine, which provides medical direction, leadership and advice in the provision of pre-hospital emergency health care, recently stated that the tiered response system used in the City of Toronto has "some of the best performance in areas such as clinical care, survival from cardiac arrest, reduction in morbidity, and adherence to medical protocols."
