A total of 230 firefighters have died in the line of duty while protecting lives, property and the environment in Toronto since 1848.
Date: Sunday, June 3, 2012
Time: 11 a.m.
Place: 339 Queens Quay West, Harbourfront Fire Station # 334
Among the firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty, many of the recent deaths are recognized by the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board of Ontario as the result of work related cancers. During the past eleven years, firefighters, families and friends have gathered for an annual ceremony of remembrance to honour those who have paid the supreme sacrifice in the performance of their dangerous duties.
The service will include reverent words of solace and the laying of wreaths by senior representatives from the City of Toronto, Toronto Fire Services and the Toronto Professional Fire Fighters Association.
Please join us as we honour Toronto’s fallen firefighters, who proudly exemplify the Toronto Fire Services’ credo of “courage, compassion, and service.”
