As the City of Toronto continues to review and address its 2012 budget, Toronto Fire Services is providing the following update to the 2010 recruitment campaign for the position of Operations Firefighter.
Toronto Fire Services will extend the current list of eligible candidates in both the general stream and the enhanced stream of the hiring pool from June 30, 2012 to December 31, 2012. Qualified candidates will remain in the hiring pool until it is exhausted or December 31, 2012, whichever comes first.
Candidates who are currently in the general stream of the hiring pool, and who now possess enhanced qualifications, may submit proof of completion to District Chief Ron Barrow, Recruitment & Community Outreach Section, 4330 Dufferin Street, Toronto, ON, M3H 5R9 no later than Friday, March 30, 2012, for placement into the enhanced hiring stream. Candidates who then successfully complete the General Firefighter Knowledge Written Examination (70% minimum) will be placed in the enhanced stream of the hiring pool.
Candidates are reminded that they must maintain their eligibility for hiring throughout the selection process; this includes maintaining certification/re-certification of First Aid and CPR certificates current to within one year of their respective issue date. Failure to meet these guidelines will result in disqualification from the selection process for the Operations Firefighter position.
Toronto Fire Services and/or the Human Resources team will communicate with eligible candidates beyond this point only as required to attend future stages of the selection process.
