The Multi-Family Waste Diversion Working Group consists of City staff and representatives from apartment and condominium trade associations, building owners and designers, residents and condominium board representatives, the Toronto Community Housing Corporation (TCHC) staff and co-operative building representatives.
The group has a mandate to explore ways of effectively implementing the initiatives, and achieving waste and diversion targets related to multi-unit residential dwellings, and providing input into the city's promotion, education and outreach programs.

History
The Multi-Family Waste Diversion Working Group was created from the Multi-Unit Residential Advisory Group and the Apartment Working Group, each active in 2005 and 2002. The Apartment Working Group advised the City on issues related to waste, recycling and composting in apartments, condominiums and co-operatives. The Multi-Unit Residential Advisory Group advised the city on how to aggressively divert more waste from multi-unit dwellings.
