In-unit recycling container program

Under the sink recycling container and recycling bag

To help multi-unit building owners and managers increase recycling, Solid Waste Management Services is providing free in-unit recycling containers for owners and managers to give to residents.

In November 2008, building owners and managers were notified about this program. If you have already received recycling containers for your building and need to order more, please contact 311.
Note: You are entitled to receive up to 10% of the buildings original in-unit recycling container order.

If you have not yet ordered any in-unit recycling containers for your building, you are still eligible to receive containers for 100% of the units in the building. In 2011, you will also be eligible to receive an additional 10% based on the original order for replacement bins, if required. To order, please contact 311.

There is a choice of two different recycling container types designed to make it easier and more convenient for residents to recycle: a hard-shell blue box or a soft-shell blue bag.

Hard-shell blue box with handle Soft-shell blue bag with handles
Hard-shell blue box with handle
11.5” wide x 12.5” high x 15” deep
Soft-shell blue bag with handles
20” wide x 18” high x 7” deep

Residents can keep their new recycling container in a convenient location and use it to collect recyclables such as metal cans, glass bottles, plastic tubs and newspapers. Once full, residents can use the in-unit recycling container to carry the recyclables to the designated recycling area in each building.
