Runs/Walks

Applicant must provide a site map that shows where the watering stations, recycling and waste disposal bins are to be located. Please outline the method of clean-up and recycling for your event.

Applicant is responsible for the clean-up and removal of garbage and debris and to restore the roadway to its original condition so the road can be re-opened to traffic in a timely manner. This will avoid City crews being called at the last minute to deal with the clean-up of the roadway which can result in a charge back to the event organizer.

Contact information for the litter operations company must be provided with the site map that includes: private company name, number of staff hired and volunteers, contact's name, telephone number and mobile number.

A Waste Management Plan is required. Permits for runs/walks will not be issued until a Waste Management Plan is submitted and approved by Solid Waste Management Services. Suggested timeline 4-6 weeks before the event.

The purpose for this plan is:

  • to ensure the applicant is responsible for the clean-up and removal of garbage and debris;
  • to restore the roadway to its original condition so that the road can be re-opened to traffic in a timely manner; and
  • to avoid City crews being called at the last minute to deal with the clean-up of the roadway which can result in a charge back to the event organizer.
