The Community (formerly Minor) Recreation Investment Funding Program helps the City achieve its recreation and leisure goals by funding community based non-profits to deliver projects that help to:
- Ensure that all of the City's neighbourhoods are strong and healthy;
- Encourage the participation of marginalized and racialized people and groups;
- Enhance the health, quality of life and well-being of residents though high quality programs, and;
- Create a sense of community belonging and increase local capacity to respond to neighbourhood challenges and opportunities.
Community Recreation provides short-term funding to projects that demonstrate the potential to contribute in a meaningful way to the City's goal to improve access for all Torontonians to recreation services that support social and physical development particularly those with the greatest need.
