On April 23, 2009 more than 700 Torontonians gathered at Exhibition Place to celebrate the 5th annual Green Toronto Awards, the kick-off event for this year's Green Living Show.

The ceremony, hosted by Mayor David Miller, Deputy Mayor Joe Pantalone and the world renowned environmentalist and actor Ed Begley, Jr., saw 30 finalists - selected from among the largest number of nominations ever received by the City - walk the green carpet.

Each of the winners received a prestigious Green Toronto Award and a $5,000 donation to a registered charity of their choice. All finalists received an Environmental Award of Excellence.

Musical guest Jenn Grant performed songs from her new CD, and the audience got the first look at the six winning videos from the Green SceneZToronto Youth Video Challenge.
