Protecting health and the environment
While the Air Quality Health Index can help to protect our health, it also serves as a reminder of the need to protect the environment. Poor air quality especially affects the life of a child with asthma, the elderly, or someone with heart or breathing problems.

If everyone reduced energy use, the number of days when the Air Quality Health Index is high would decrease.

Taking action to reduce air pollution
Air pollution is a year-round problem. There are many things you can do to protect yourself and to help reduce the amount of pollution being released into the air.

20/20 The Way to Clean Air is a campaign designed to help people reduce home energy use and vehicle use by 20 percent. 20/20 provides participants with tools and resources to help achieve 20 percent reductions in home energy use and vehicle use. It connects them to programs and services that help them succeed. The campaign offers a free 20/20 Planner - a practical step-by-step guide to reducing energy use at home and on the road.

Join others in the Greater Toronto Area in reducing energy use and vehicle use by 20 percent. Call 416-392-2020 for more information.

Remember, reducing energy use can reduce smog.

Protect your health. Know the numbers.
