TPH places 1st in 2009 global breastfeeding challenge

On October 3rd mothers and babies worldwide competed to set the record for the most babies breastfeeding at one time. In Toronto 190 moms and 191 hungry infants and toddlers gathered at the Rosedale Heights School of the Arts with family and friends to participate. Another 182 moms and babies participated online for a total of 372 moms and 373 babies all breastfeeding at the same time. Toronto placed first out of 298 participating sites worldwide for the most children breastfeeding at one time. Congratulations Toronto!


Directory of Breastfeeding Friendly places

The Ontario Human Rights Commission policies support women's right to breastfeed undisturbed in public places. In addition to restaurants, Toronto Public Health has included movie theatres and retail malls as part of their Breastfeeding Friendly initiative. Breastfeeding on City premises

City Council approved a policy that supports mothers who reside, visit or work in the City of Toronto to breastfeed anytime and anywhere in public places controlled by the City. The policy, Breastfeeding in Public (PDF) is consistent with the Ontario Human Rights Commission, and supports the healthy growth and development of infants and young children.
