Dental Services Free dental care for eligible children, high school students and seniors

Direction and Service
Dental & Oral Health Services
  • Provide oral health treatment and preventive services to children (0 to 13 years) in low income families, high school students in low income families, high risk perinatal mothers enrolled in Toronto Public Health programs, and low income, independent living seniors 65 years and older.
  • Oral health education
  • Administer the Children In Need Of Treatment, and Ontario Works Provincial Dental Program.
  • Screen school age children
  • Provide screening and oral health education to seniors and caregivers in collective living centers
Treatments
The dental program provides free basic dental services such as examining teeth and gums, x-rays, fillings, preventive services (including cleaning, scaling, topical fluoride, sealants), extractions, root canal treatment (on selected teeth), dentures and partial dentures. While there is no charge for dental treatment, clients are asked to pay half of the dental laboratory cost for dentures and denture repairs.

Community Outreach
Dental Staff working with the community to provide oral health promotion and disease prevention.

Eligibility
Free dental services are available for eligible seniors and children who live in the City of Toronto. Dental Services are for low-income seniors, children up to grade 8 and high school students.

Dental Clinics
The dental clinics are located throughout the city, many are on TTC routes, and they are open all year. The staff are aware of cultural sensitivities, and can communicate with patients in several languages: Arabic, Cantonese, Chau Zoo, Ethiopian, Farsi, French, German, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Lithuanian, Mandarin, Persion, Polish, Portuguese, Punjabi, Romanian, Russian, Serbo-Croatian, Tagalog, Thai, Tsoi-shan, Ukrainian, Vietnamese, Yiddish.
