Drug Prevention Community Investment Program draws on community experts and citizens
in the allocation of grant funding. The Community Review Panel members
work with staff to review each application and make recommendations
to the Board of Health and City Council.
The Community Review Panel is made up of City Council member(s), Board
of Health member(s), and citizens representing the diverse neighbourhoods
around the City. The appointment of individuals to participate in
the Review Panel is made by the Board of Health following a public
call for potential members.
Toronto Public Health is recruiting volunteers to empower and strengthen
communities.
We
need individuals from diverse backgrounds with:
the
ability to be objective
knowledge
of community programs and services
knowledge
on substance abuse prevention/ harm reduction
a
second language is beneficial
Volunteer
responsibilities and duties include:
attend
orientation, grant review meetings and deputation
review
applications
make
funding recommendations to Board of Health
and City Council
timeframe
is from April to June
