Contact the liaison Public Health Nurse in your child's school for more information on how to make a healthier school. To find the liaison Public Health Nurse in your child's school, call Toronto Health Connection at 416-338-7600 or email publichealth@toronto.ca.

Here are programs and resources offered by Toronto Public Health that can assist you to help your children be the best they can be:
  • A Healthy Start to School
    Information on how to help your child to have a healthy start to school.
  • Dental Clinics
    Free dental care for eligible children and youth.
  • Drugs − Start Talking
    A guide to communicate with your child about alcohol and drugs.
  • Hand washing
    Information on the importance of clean hands; includes activity sheets, posters and DVD.
  • Head Lice
    Fact sheet in various languages and links to other resources.
  • Health Issues (related websites)
    A list of websites on various health-related issues such as asthma, head lice and injury prevention.
  • Immunization
    Information on vaccines required for schools and school immunization clinics.
  • Moving on the Spot
    A collection of ready-made stretch and movement sessions for use with children 4 to 12 years old.
  • Parent Newsletter Inserts
    A variety of health topics that can be used in the school's newsletter.
  • Parenting programs:
    • Nobody's Perfect
      A free parent support and information program for parents and/or caregivers (of children 18 months to 6 years of age).
    • Incredible Years
      A free parenting program for parents and/or caregivers (of children 2 to 6 years) with children experiencing difficulties with attention, problem solving and social skills.
    • Early Childhood Development (birth to 6 years old)
      A free program on what you can do to support your child's early learning.
    • Healthy Babies, Healthy Children
      A free home-visiting program for pregnant women and families with children up to age six.
    • Peer Nutrition Program
      A free nutrition education program in many languages to help parents and caregivers (of children 6 months to 6 years of age) prepare quick and healthy meals.
    • At Home Alone
      A workshop that helps prepare 10-14 years old to stay home alone safely.
    • Kids Have Stress Too
      A program for parents with children 4-9 years old to better understand stress in children.
  • Sexual Health
    Information on raising sexually healthy children.
  • Student Nutrition Program
    Breakfast, lunch and/or snack programs in eligible schools.
  • Sun Safety
    Information on protecting your family from harmful effects of the sun.
  • Toronto Preschool Speech and Language Services
    A community based program for preschool children and their families.
