Toxic chemicals
Toxic chemicals
From pesticides, radiation, lead to PCBs, and other cancer causing agents, toxic pollutants can have major impacts on our health. Read Toronto Public Health's reports on toxic chemicals.

What is Toronto Public Health doing?
Toronto Public Health is participating in the Toronto Cancer Prevention Coalition to increase awareness of the potential of certain pollutants to cause cancer. We are also working with colleagues in other City of Toronto departments on developing an Air Quality Strategy to help reduce emissions of pollutants including cancer-causing agents.

Recently, Toronto Public Health began to examine how access to environmental information, such as chemicals use and storage, can benefit health and the environment by stimulating pollution prevention, supporting emergency planning and increasing awareness of hazards in our community.
