Children’s bodies are too small to be protected by an adult seat belt alone.

To create a safer ride for children, parents and caregivers need to choose the right car seat, install and use it correctly and practice safer ride tips every time children travel in a vehicle.

As your child grows, they will need to use a car seat that is correct for their age, height and weight (please note new car seats may have different weight requirements than those listed. Always refer to the manufacturer's instructions).

Types of car seats
Children need to use a car seat that is correct for their height and weight. The following car seats are recommended for children's varying stages of growth:
  1. Rear-Facing Infant-Only Car Seat
  2. Rear to Forward-Facing Car Seat
  3. Forward-Facing to Booster Seat
  4. Booster Seat
Please note: New car seats may have different weight requirements than those listed on this site. Always refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
