  Postpartum Depression: Literature Review
   
Postpartum Depression Postpartum depression is a significant health issue which affects approximately 13% of women within a year of childbirth.

The comprehensive literature review on this page will primarily be of interest to health care and social service providers.

It addresses:
  • risk factors for postpartum depression
  • the detection, prevention, and treatment of postpartum depression
  • the effects of postpartum depression on children's growth and development
  • interventions and strategies which mitigate the impact of postpartum depression on children's growth and development
Implications for policy, practice, and further research are identified.
