Can we prevent cancer before it even begins? That's the dream of the Toronto Cancer Prevention Coalition.
For the first time ever, a group of prominent Toronto organizations, grassroots agencies and community members have developed an Action Plan to deal with this critical health issue. Endorsed by Toronto City Council in 2002 as the cornerstone of cancer prevention in the City, the Action Plan provides direction for awareness and change to stop cancer before it starts.
As the largest group of its kind in North America, the Toronto Cancer Prevention Coalition is working to implement the Action Plan, to change policy and standards and to mobilize public support to eliminate the underlying causes of cancer in our City.
We believe everyone has the right to know about preventing cancer and the right to help stop it. Many things can be done right now. As you read on, ask yourself, "How can I take part?"
