What's New?
Recent Cluster of Shigella Cases
A cluster of Shigella flexneri cases among Toronto males has recently been identified. Shigella is a bacteria that causes severe diarrhea which can become bloody. This cluster is thought to be due to person-to-person transmission through oral-anal sexual contact. The ingestion of only a few organisms can lead to symptoms.

For more information, visit Toronto Public Health’s web site on Shigellosis. Information is also available for your doctor on the recent cluster of Shigella cases (PDF).

Teaching Puberty: You Can Do It! DVD
"Teaching Puberty: You Can Do It!" is a new, unique DVD resource developed by Toronto Public Health. This is a teacher training resource, to be used by staff in preparation for teaching grade 4-6 puberty classes. It consists of discussion and modelling of the four basic sessions, interviews with experts discussing challenging issues and a text resource section.
