Toronto No Smoking By-law Information
Toronto Public Health staff enforce the Smoke-Free Ontario Act, which came into effect on May 31, 2006. The provincial Act prohibits smoking in enclosed workplaces and public places, to protect workers and the public from the hazards of second-hand smoke.

In the City of Toronto, private clubs are smoke-free under workplace provisions. Designated Smoking Rooms can not be used for smoking. Ashtrays and Health Warning Signs must be removed.

For more information about the provincial Act, call the provincial INFOline at 1-866-396-1760.

For information on acquiring signs required under the new provincial regulation, or on how Toronto Public Health enforces the Act, please phone Toronto Health Connection at 416-338-7600.

If you are interested in quitting smoking call the Smokers' Helpline at 1-877-513-5333. For more information about the provincial Act call the provincial INFOline at 1-866-396-1760.
