Toronto Public Health has played a vital part in the history of the City of Toronto since 1883. In the early days, Toronto Public Health worked to improve unsanitary living and working conditions to prevent diseases like typhus and diphtheria from becoming a serious health threat. Many of the things we take for granted today - safe water, sewer systems and vaccinations, had their start in the early efforts of Toronto Public Health. |
Today, Toronto Public Health continues its work toward a healthy city for all by preventing the spread of disease, protecting against injury and illness, promoting healthy living and advocating for better conditions that improve health. This video is an introduction to the vital role Toronto Public Health continues to play in our community.
