Broccoli is an excellent source of vitamin C. One half cup of broccoli provides 65% of the Recommended Daily Intake for vitamin C.

Buying
  • Choose broccoli that is tightly budded with bright grey-green leaves and yellow-green stems.
  • Choose bunches with slender stems.
Storing
  • Store broccoli in a perforated bag in the refrigerator crisper for up to five days.
Preparing
  • To prepare, wash, drain and remove outer leaves; cut florets and trim stems. Both can be stir-fried, steamed or eaten raw. Cook until just tender.
