Strawberries Did you know?
Strawberries are excellent sources of vitamin C. Strawberry extract is used to make antiwrinkle beauty products. Look for locally grown strawberries in the summer time. Five medium-sized strawberries are equal to one vegetable and fruit serving.

Buying
  • Look for bright red, shiny berries with fresh green hulls (where the stem of the strawberry was broken off).
  • Avoid boxes with any spoiled berries or juice-stained containers.
Storing
  • Store unwashed in a single layer with green hulls intact.
Preparing
  • Eat within 3 days. Wash and dry berries with green hull intact.
  • Enjoy whole, sliced or crushed.
  • Add them to cereal, yogourt, fruit or green salads, pancakes, waffles or French toast.
