Pedometer Lending Program

Need to add some motivation to your walking? Why not use a pedometer or join a walking group?

A pedometer is a simple tool that is used to count the number of steps you take. If walking is your main form of exercise, it is recommended that you reach a goal of 10,000 steps per day.

For example, the average person walks 3,000 - 4,500 steps in 30 minutes when walking briskly.

Toronto Public Health in partnership with Toronto Public Library offers pedometers on loan for a 3 week period. Borrow a pedometer at any Toronto Public Library branch.

When you borrow the pedometer, it comes in a video cassette case, together with a Walk Into Health booklet (PDF) that you can keep. The booklet has information on walking guidelines, places to walk and a printable calendar to track your walking progress.
