* * Safety tips General tips:
  • Start off slowly to warm up. Finish your walk at a slow pace and with stretching
  • Stay aware of what is around you at all times and obey traffic rules
  • Tell others where you are going and what time you expect to return
  • Always carry identification
  • Carry a bottle of water and drink often while walking
  • Consider walking inside on icy or wet days (e.g. in the local mall)
Sun safety
There are many health risks when your skin is overexposed to the sun. When walking outdoor make sure to wear a hat, sunglasses, long sleeve shirt, light colour clothing and apply sun screen on a regular basis.

Air Quality Health Index
The Air Quality Health Index is made to help protect your health. This index will tell you if there are health risks posed by local air pollution conditions. When going for a walk, check the index to see if it is safe to do physical activity outside.
