Health Options at Work: Physical Activity
Physical Activity is Your Active Business Partner


Getting employees active during their regular workday benefits both employers and employees. Workplaces that support their employees to be physically active report:
  • increased productivity, job satisfaction, employee morale
  • reduced absenteeism, employee turnover, health care claims, risk of injury/illness
  • improved corporate image and employee health
Health Options at Work

For employees, regular physical activity can:
  • increase energy level
  • improve mood, sleep and self esteem
  • reduce physical reactions to stress
  • lower individual risk of developing chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes and cancer

Your work environment has a significant impact on your employees’ health and your company’s bottom line. In addition to providing a Business Case for Active Living at Work, The Public Health Agency of Canada summarizes key research findings and promotes a multi-strategy approach to investing in active living at work.

From a business perspective, promoting physical activity can be low in cost and easy to implement. A little creativity can go a long way!
