Woman abuse: an environmental scan of Toronto services Woman abuse negatively affects women's lives including their physical and mental health, well being and economic security. Witnessing abuse can also have severe psychological and behavioural effects on children.

Efforts to support abused women have intensified in multiple sectors of society in the past ten years. This environmental scan will be of interest to service providers and policy makers in the health, social services, criminal justice, and educational sectors who are interested in enhancing services, service coordination, and the service system response to woman abuse.

The scan addresses:
  • the prevalence and consequences of woman abuse
  • the results of a scan of the woman abuse service system in Toronto
  • the strengths and weaknesses in service coordination and the service system response
  • key issues with the inter-sectoral response to woman abuse in Toronto
