RE: Canada-Ontario-Toronto Housing Allowance Program (HAP) Program Deadlines

  • Cut off date for Applications to Hostel Services (shelter categories)  February 1, 2008
  • Cut off date for intents to rent to Housing Connections- March 31, 2008.

Together we have made excellent progress on the recruitment and submission of HAP applications on behalf of shelter clients. With the exception of  the VAW category, applications for individuals leaving the shelter system are now closed.  Only completed applications received as of  Friday, February 1, 2008  will be considered.

As the number of applications received to date exceeds the units available, and as per the original program design, allowances will be assigned by Housing Connections on a first come first serve basis. Please submit all outstanding  Intents to rent must be submitted directly to HAP c/o Housing Connections (fax: 416-981-6114) no later than March 31, 2008.

For approved applicants that cannot be housed before March 31, 2008, a waiting list will be established so that previously approved applicants may access vacated units under the program as they become available. We hope to provide more information about this process in the coming weeks.

Update: Criteria for the Violence Against Women Housing Allowance Program have been expanded.
