Lowest development charge rates in the region
The City of Toronto's development charge rates are the lowest in the GTA. In addition, the following exemptions may apply to your non-residential land development project:
Development Charge Exemptions:
- Industrial uses (as defined in the Bylaw)
- Buildings approved for a grant under the Imagination, Manufacturing, Innovation and Technology Financial Incentives Program (subject to an agreement)
- Buildings owned by and used for a college and university
In addition to the above:
- Any non-residential floor area located above or below the ground floor is exempt from municipal development charges (only the floor area located on the ground floor is subject to a charge)
- Buildings that meet the Tier 2 requirements of the Toronto Green Standard will receive a 20% development charge rebate.
